City of Lodz
Lodz is a city situated in the heart of Poland at the crossing of the most important European routes.
Lodz was founded in 1423 and for many centuries had been a poor city but in the XIX century has gone through rebirth.
It became one of the fastest developing cities in the world. Back then Lodz has been called "the promised land" and was a home for thousands of settlers from all around of Europe.
The unparalleled material heritage of today's Lodz is the outcome of its multicultural and vibrant history.
For decades the city intertwined Polish, Jewish, German and Russian cultures.
Today the material evidence of their presence in "the Promised Land" raises admiration and imparts its unique character to the city.
In Lodz like in giant melting pot, cultures, languages, religions and national customs have been mixed.
These were the roots of wealth and character of the city. Here, next to great factory mills, beautiful villas and palaces surrounded by parks have been built. The tenements in the city centre evoke the styles of past periods.
In their shadow there were vast working-class housing estates and uptown development preserving their old look.
The heritage of the past plays an important role in modern substance of the city. Even contemporary glass buildings cannot overshadow this. Respect for the tradition entitles us to a greater care for monuments of the past and seeking a new role and function for them. These are one of the tourist attractions of the city - palaces, beautiful sacral buildings, concert and theatre halls filled with history are the background for plenty of interesting cultural events. Joyful atmosphere of Lodz shows that this city is full of youth, art and science. Multitude of colleges, feasts, unique museum collections act like a magnet for those who want to be in the centre of European events.
It is people who are most valuable here, but it is also a city of great potential and a capital city of one of most attractive regions for investors in Poland.
The city is a big and dynamically developing centre of industry, economy and administration. That's why it is worth to invest here.
